The San Diego Humane Society hosts an adoption event during Memorial Day weekend to thank the Armed Forces for their service.

Thanks to Animals for Armed Forces FoundationAdoption fees will be lifted on Saturday and Sunday for all pets and animals wanted by active-duty soldiers, veterans, reserve members and their families.

“Living in a military city like San Diego, this is a special adoption event for us, as we can thank the dedicated members of our service by waiving the adoption fees for them,” said Humane Society CEO Jessica Des Lauriers. .

He added that the shelter has more than 400 animals, including five pigs, that need homes.

The Humane Society offers adoption guarantees, training tips, pet supplies and educational information to support pet families for the life of the animal. The organization also has a Behavioral Helpline to talk to experts on behavioral or training issues.

Successive adoptions are available from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. on the Humane Society campuses in Escondido, El Cajon, Oceanside and San Diego. The organization is closed on Remembrance Day.
