The tool, which aims to reduce emissions in communities disproportionately affected by pollution and climate change, was noted by the publication program, which honors technology and innovation that address social inequality, climate change and its crises. public health.
SDG & E’s Community Impact Platform, developed in conjunction with Accenture, has received honors in categories focusing on artificial intelligence, climate and large employers. He also became a finalist in the “Enduring Impact” business category.

The SDG & E platform overlaps advanced fleet and vehicle GPS data with socioeconomic data to model different vehicle replacement scenarios to help reduce emissions in vulnerable communities.

Using the tool, SDG & E can map the development of zero-emission vehicles to help offset the effects of climate change and pollution on its San Diego and Southern Orange counties.
To date, the platform has utilized artificial intelligence to collect over 80 million data points to help estimate and visualize the carbon emissions associated with each vehicle of the SDG & E fleet during daily voyages.
The team behind this has incorporated a smart vehicle replacement model into the platform to help prioritize fleet and other investments to meet SDG & E and regional sustainability; and climate equality goals.
The winners of the World Changing Ideas Awards were selected by a panel of judges in a variety of areas, based on expediency and potential for further impact. Siemens, a German construction company with facilities throughout the USA, was named Company of the Year.
